9/28/2022
Event Aimed to Help Brew Community Spirit among Law Enforcement
Natchez, MS – National Coffee with a Cop day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public. Merit Health Natchez is pleased to host this event on Wednesday, October 5 from 7:45 a.m. until 9 a.m. in the hospital’s cafeteria, and the public is invited to attend.
The day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and the law.
“Our hospital is fortunate to have a great working relationship with our local law enforcement agencies,” said Garett May, Merit Health Natchez CEO. “By hosting this event, we hope other area businesses and residents can create or continue fostering connections with officers and deputies.”
Police Chief Joseph Daughtry, Sr., said he and his officers are looking forward to the event. “We encourage those who can to attend and share your thoughts, ideas, concerns and questions,” said Chief Daughtry. Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten appreciates the hospital providing this opportunity for the citizens of Natchez and Adams County. “This gathering will provide law enforcement an additional avenue to promote trust and cooperation among the people we serve,” said Sheriff Patten.
The hospital cafeteria will serve free coffee and pastries in an informal and friendly atmosphere. There will be no agenda or speeches, just an opportunity to get to know our local law enforcement officers in Natchez and Adams County. Please join us on October 5 between 7:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
