Hospital Honors Medical Staff by Giving to Local Charity
NATCHEZ, Miss. –December 15, 2017 —Merit Health Natchez recently made a donation of $1,000.00 to The Children’s Christmas Tree Fund in honor of the hospital’s medical staff. “We are fortunate and blessed in our community to have the caliber of physicians serving and meeting the medical needs of this community. In the spirit of the season, we wanted to honor them by giving a donation in their honor to the Christmas Tree Fund,” said Eric Robinson, CEO of Merit Health Natchez.
Natchez is full of traditions, and The Children’s Christmas Tree Fund, started over 116 years ago by the publisher of The Natchez Democrat, James Lambert, is an example of one of the most giving traditions we have. Through the years, Natchez residents have kept the Fund alive by collecting donations and buying hundreds of Christmas presents for area children who otherwise would not have presents under the tree. It has helped thousands of children through the years have a Merry Christmas. The gifts are given out to children ages 1 to 10, who have been selected by an application process through Catholic Charities. They receive the gifts, complete with Santa Claus and members of the Santa Claus Committee, on Christmas Eve.
“We at Merit Health Natchez applaud the efforts of the Children’s Christmas Tree Fund volunteers who work tirelessly each year to shop, select and wrap the gifts in an effort to ensure the children gathered on Christmas Eve experience joy and happiness,” said Robinson.
Dr. Frank Guedon, Chief of Staff for Merit Health Natchez, is pleased with the hospital’s tradition of honoring the medical staff by giving back to the community. “It gives me great satisfaction knowing a donation made in my honor can help put smiles on children’s faces in our community,” said Dr. Guedon. “I commend the hospital for donating to such an established and respected charity, and it truly is an honor for me and my colleagues to be recognized in this manner.”
