Merit Health Natchez Names Employee, Managers and Volunteer of the Year

Highest Honors Given for 2018 Award Winners
NATCHEZ, Miss. – January 25, 2018 — Merit Health Natchez has named the following 2018 award winners: Fran Farmer, Certified Respiratory Therapist and Employee of the Year; Lynda Hall, Director of Materials Management and Non-Clinical Manager of the Year; Susan Grayson, Director of Medical Imaging and Clinical Manager of the Year; and Pookey Frank, Volunteer of the Year. These awards are the highest honors bestowed on a hospital employee and volunteer each year, and they were chosen from approximately 500 employees and 30 volunteers.
“These award winners truly represent service and operational excellence in their delivery of great patient care. People who work in health care share the common desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a pleasure to recognize Fran, Lynda, Susan and Mrs. Frank for the teamwork, dedication and compassion they provide for patients and employees,” said Lance Boyd, CEO of Merit Health Natchez.
Fran has worked 16 years with the hospital and is described by co-workers as a prime example of a team player filled with passion for her patients and pride in her job. Angela Yates, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services describes Fran as dependable, versatile and a tremendous asset not only to her department but the entire hospital. “Fran is known for her willingness to help other employees and departments, especially in the Emergency Department when she assists with chest pains, blood draws, vital signs, etc. Whatever is in her scope of care to do, she will assist and ensure patient comfort, safety and compassion,” concluded Yates.
As Director of Materials Management, Lynda and her staff work diligently to manage, order and deliver the necessary supplies to all departments to ensure employees have what they need to provide patient care as well as perform their daily job duties. Hospital directors and employees admire her work ethic and her ability to anticipate their needs. “Lynda can always be counted on, and her personal commitment to quality is obvious in everything she does. She adapts easily to change and with 40 years of healthcare knowledge, she is a true asset for our hospital,” said Matt Thomas, Chief Financial Officer of Merit Health Natchez.
As Director of Medical Imaging, Susan is highly respected among her employees for her leadership skills. She sets high standards for the delivery of care and customer service provided by her team. It’s evident her employees are loyal, dedicated and passionate, as evidenced in the many compliments and positive comments received by their patients. “Susan is a tremendous asset to our hospital and is always focused on quality, safe patient care delivered with compassion and kindness,” said Amy Campbell, Assistant Administrator and Chief Compliance Officer.
Pookey Frank has been giving unselfishly of her time and talents as a hospital volunteer for the past 19 years. She has amassed over 6,000 hours of service during this time and established a reputation of being dependable, loyal and a pleasure to be around. “Pookey is a wonderful fixture in our hospital gift shop. She loves to interact with customers and can have you smiling or laughing during your encounter with her. Employees love her and we are so fortunate to have her,” said Yvonne Eidt, Gift Shop Coordinator.
